Safeguarding

Promoting a Safer Church

Euxton Parish Church is committed to the safeguarding, care and nurture of everyone within our church community.  We have adopted the Safeguarding Policy and Supporting Documents produced by the Diocese of Blackburn which can be found at https://www.blackburn.anglican.org under Safeguarding on the top menu bar.

If you have a Safeguarding Concern or need any additional information then you should speak to either the vicar, Rev Jo Smith or the Parish Safeguarding Officer, Mrs Claire Holt

  • As a parish we have adopted the House of Bishops ‘Promoting a Safer Church’ policy and the Parish Safeguarding Handbook, incorporating the House of Bishop’s Safeguarding Policy and Practice Guidance.  You can access the Parish Safeguarding Handbook from the link here.
  • Our PCC has formally adopted this and signed the Safeguarding Policy Statement Promoting a Safer Church.
  • If you have a Safeguarding Concern or need any additional information then you should speak to or contact either the vicar, Rev Jo Smith, or the Parish Safeguarding Officer Mrs Claire Holt.  You can contact our parish safeguarding officer Mrs Claire Holt  on euxton.safeguard@gmail.com/07800 519717 or the vicar, Rev Jo Smith, on vicar@euxtonparishchurch.org / 01257 262102
  • We have also displayed the Promoting a Safer Church poster prominently within our church.
  •  It is our policy that all those we appoint to work with children and adults at risk undergo safer recruitment and receive safeguarding training and support.  Safeguarding training can be booked from Blackburn Diocese

Reporting a concern

Any safeguarding concerns in a parish should be brought to the attention of your local Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO) in the first instance, who can seek further advice from Catherine Smith, the Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser (DSA), as necessary.

Safeguarding concerns in a school/university/prison/healthcare setting should be raised with the relevant organisation's Safeguarding team. If the concern involves one of our church officers, please also contact Catherine Smith direct.

church

All our services take place in the Church Building on Wigan Road.

We have a car park on School Lane, Euxton.
For church -  there is a footpath from the car park, which brings you out in the church grounds.
For church community centre - the entrance is opposite the car park entrance (across School Lane).

When you arrive, you will be greeted by one of our welcomers who will happily welcome you and answer any questions.

Sunday Regular Services

8am BCP Holy Communion - a quiet, said service using traditional language.
9.15am All Age Service - a lively service, interactive with worship songs for everyone and also geared towards children /families.
11am Morning Prayer / Holy Communion - more traditional, liturgical service with hymns.

Whilst each of our services is different, you can expect a warm welcome;  relevant preaching based in the Word of God and a friendly group of people ready to learn more about what it means to be a follower of Jesus.

Wednesday Regular Services

11am Holy Communion - a traditional, liturgical service but with no hymns.

Do check the calendar to see which service is on each week.

What about my children?

Children are welcome at all of our services, though the All-Age Sunday service is more aimed towards children and families.  We also have specific services and groups for children to attend for toddlers / pre-schoolers and schools Years 6 - 10:

Pre-schoolers / toddlers and their carers - Early Birds is a regular service on Wednesdays (term-time) at 9.15am in church. The short service consists of singing, bible stories and prayer.  Followed by refreshments and craft activities.  Its  also a great way to meet others.
